The evening was padded out to its three-hour length with two opening acts and lengthy breaks between. Fellow “Idol” alum Allison Iraheta was all youthful enthusiasm, attacking every song, but she could use a little more modulation in her performance. But that voice! Smoky and sensational.

Review:

Fellow “Idol” veteran Allison Iraheta opened the show, and her guitar-pop songs rose and fell on the hooks, which meant that the loping, mid-tempo “Friday I’ll Be Over U” was the highlight, while her attempts at glam on “Holiday” and “Robot Love” (the latter of which borrowed from “Rock & Roll Pt. 2”) were less successful. The ballads “Scars” and “Don’t Waste the Pretty” were affecting, but her cover of Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker” was beyond her grasp.

    Is she sick, or is it vocal fatigue, or is she trying to protect her voice for a “brutal” stretch of concerts? I've noticed lately she's dropped off in spots where she'd been singing before. I think it's smart if she's protecting her voice to keep it healthy for the tour. Hope it's just being cautious and not illness or a vocal injury.

    It may be a little bit of everything. She did have two very rough days in NYC. Her A&R was there night 1, her management was there night 2. The press was there, reports say she gave 150% for those two shows. To top it all, some people in Adam's band seem to be sick and Adam himself was reportedly sick (according to someone who talked to his brother). She shares a bus with his band, so it wouldn't surprise me if she also got sick and was trying to protect her already tired voice.

    Very noticeable above that she couldn't go to any of her high notes. Really hope she's OK.

    Well if it is a cold, Ori will probably have it now. Then again, Ori takes about 1000 vitamins before her performances, so maybe she won't get sick.

    Orianthi has her own bus, Allison shares a bus with Adam's band and apparently, his bassist is sick. Allison's bassist just confirmed to me through twitter that they are sick and she's feeling the scratchy throat, so I”m guessing so is Allison.

    Well, that reviewers was unlucky to have gone to the one concert when Allison was sick and couldn't do Heartbreaker at her 100% level. However, if this person thinks FIBOU is midtempo and Holiday was Glam, I do NOT know which concert he attended.
