Review:

Alison Iraheta, who took third place behind Lambert in Season 8 of Idol, opened Saturday’s show. To close your eyes and just listen to Iraheta sing, one might think Joan Jett was in the building. Her powerhouse vocals and non-stop energy — albeit during a brief, 20-minute set — did move the Idol fans in the crowd. Still, Iraheta, while gifted vocally, lacks the charisma that Lambert just naturally oozes. If she can polish up the stage presence a little, Iraheta could potentially be performing for bigger crowds.

That, and the first line – I know a lot of people consider Allison to have been the third-place finisher that season, but TECHNICALLY she finished in fourth ;-)

The people who whine about her stage presence annoy me. Until Idol, it seems like the largest stage she'd ever performed on was the one for that Quinceanera show. I don't know that performing every weekend at La Curacao department store in LA really got her the kind of experience she would have needed to cultivate the kind of stage presence that works for the audiences and venues she is encountering on this tour. The Idols Live tour seems to have done a lot more stadium-size venues, which the Glam Nation tour does not seem to be doing very much. (Not 100% sure about that, but that is my impression from what I've seen/read). And, on the Idols Live tour, pretty much everyone would have known who she was, and a lot of people would have been there specifically to see her. I imagine it wouldn't be as hard to have a great stage presence with an audience that knows and generally loves you from the start. So give the girl a break!
Even the best stars aren't always born with a great stage presence. As far as the comparison to Adam in the review, I agree he's got a ton of charisma but he's also been a professional performer for what, a decade? Alli has only been a professional for a little more than a year (or if you count from the actual release date of her album, about 7 months). From the videos that Alliholics has been posting, it seems like her stage presence (and her confidence) are improving with every live performance she does, as she learns what works and what doesn't and figures out how to interact with the audience. I think she should get some credit for how quickly she's developing a stage presence, rather than just criticism about how her stage presence isn't good enough.

I think it's pretty ridiculous also to expect Allison, at 18 years old to be on the same level of “charisma” as Adam Lambert, 28 years old, Theater singer and who has been performing since the year Allison herself was born. BTW, I think her stage presence is incredible as is. What people don't like sometimes are her mannerisms and seriously, again, has any of these reviewers seen the Rolling Stones in concert? How about Mariah Carey or Janis Joplin when she was alive? Every performer has their own thing and some don't like to have every move choreographed or rehearsed.
