I'm almost 3x her age at 45, and she is the most compelling new artist to me in years. Great talent transcends age, and I also like her genuiine personality. Suck it Simon.

When she was still 17, I was twice her age already and I LOVE her, so not all her fans are young, but my 11, 15 & 17 year old nieces also love her so she's got a point.

I don't think she means she doesn't connect to those songs, I think she means they're more general and broad and not exactly reflective of her personal life experiences up until now, seeing as how she didn't' have a hand in writing most of them. Most of those songs are about heartache and though I'm pretty sure she has had a chance to experience some of that, it's not like she had a chance to express those feelings herself.

I think it's funny that she thinks most of her fans are young like her, I know a few that are twice her age haha.
