Review

Opening the evening with explosive vocals and unexpectedly powerful rock ballads from her debut album was a fellow season 8 American Idol contestant and Lambert friend, Allison Iraheta. She hit the stage looking stunning, dressed from head to toe in black. But her wardrobe was a mere after thought once she opened her mouth to sing. Her booming raspy vocals comparable to Tina Turner or Pat Benatar penetrated the skepticism and caught most of the anxious Glambert fans off guard. Her stage presence and gutsy set captivated the audience who affectionately received her with roaring cheers and applause. Iraheta set a commanding pace for the evening and though her 2009 debut album may not have done as well as fans and even she had hoped her performance demonstrated the promise of a long career in the industry as she refines and matures in her artistic ability.
